Most flexible
A rental car is usually the easiest choice for airport transfers, lodging outside Uptown, scenic drives and day trips. Reserve early during spring, fall and holiday periods.
No airport driving
Intercity shuttles and prearranged transportation can connect Phoenix Sky Harbor with Sedona. Service, pickup locations and hotel stops change, so reserve directly with the provider.
Road trip
From Phoenix, the standard approach is I-17 north to Exit 298 and SR-179 through the Village of Oak Creek. From Flagstaff, I-17 is generally the simpler route; scenic SR-89A through Oak Creek Canyon is narrower and more weather-sensitive.
After arrival
Many Uptown destinations are walkable, but Sedona is spread across Uptown, West Sedona and the Village of Oak Creek. The free Sedona Shuttle serves selected popular trailheads from park-and-ride lots on scheduled service days.
